A first winter Iceland Gull heading north across the Narrows was the clear highlight of the day. It settled briefly on a flood pool before heading over Solfach and disappearing up the West Coast. Generally "white winged gulls" are mostly recorded here during the beginning of the new year and, the more common species being Glaucous Gull, so this was a nice surprise and probably only the 12th record of this species for the island!

The ever present drake Gadwall was again spotted around the Narrows accompanied by the Wigeon that it seems to be associating with, whilst close by was the juvenile Grey Heron which has been residing here over the past weeks, 37 Oystercatchers, a Whimbrel, 45 Curlews, 12 Redshanks, two Turnstones and 25 Starlings were also noted.

Good numbers of thrushes continue to be recorded over the past weeks with today being no exception with a fantastic showing of 19 Blackbirds, 30 Song Thrushes and five Redwings.
