A new Yellow-browed Warbler was discovered at Nant in the morning proving extremely restless but flitted about the willows calling, other than that warbler numbers were thin on the ground with just two Black Redstart, a Blackcap, two Chiffchaffs and 18 Goldcrests seen. There were very few other notable movements of birds, the usual raptors patrolled the island, a pair of Sparrowhawks, Kestrel and Merlin, meanwhile overhead a Grey Wagtail, 31 Skylarks, 32 Fieldfares, nine Redwings 272 Starlings and small numbers of Bramblings, Siskins, Goldfinch, Linnets and Reed Buntings passed by, whilst on the ground 17 Robins, two Stonechats and 15 Blackbirds were noted.
Two Common Snipes, a Woodcock, Whimbrel, 30 Curlews, three Redshanks, 27 Turnstones and 31 Oystercatchers were waders for the day.
One of many moulted Grey Seal pups, this one deciding to take refuge behind the hide on Solfach |
