A day beginning with fresh south-westerly winds saw conditions improve gradually during the course of the day. The first Great Skua of the year flew past the South End in the early morning, whilst a good movement of hirundines South over the Narrows, South End and West Side amounted to 12 Sand Martins, 359 Swallows, 30 House martins. A singing male Firecrest at Nant was a pleasant surprise, whilst counts of passerine migrants included the following: three Swifts, 14 Sedge Warblers, one Reed Warbler, two Whitethroats, four Blackcaps, 16 Chiffchaffs, five Willow Warblers, one Goldcrest, nine Spotted Flycatchers and two Rooks.
